Membership Benefitting Chickasaw Park Clay Tennis Courts

Help Re-Open Chickasaw Park’s Historic Clay Tennis Courts

For the past 80 years, Chickasaw Park has been home to the only free, public clay courts in the city – but the lack of clay may prevent the courts from opening this summer.

Olmsted Parks Conservancy needs your help to raise $5,000 for new clay, which will help re-open the historic courts in time for the Arthur Lloyd Johnson Memorial Tournament in June, the annual USTA sanctioned match held at Chickasaw for the past 15 years – a source of pride for the West Louisville Tennis Club and Chickasaw community. The courts, which play host to numerous West Louisville Tennis Club children’s and adult’s clinics and programs, are also the home court of Saint Francis High School and Central High School’s first tennis team in over a decade.

Your donation helps keep tennis at the heart of Chickasaw Park.

If 100 people give $50, we can raise $5,000 for new clay in order to open in time for the tournament on June 21. Donations will be matched by the Raise a Racquet for Kentucky Tennis Foundation, up to $1000.

Your donation entitles you to all the benefits of a one-year Olmsted Parks Conservancy membership, including free admission to guided hikes in the Olmsted Parks, member discounts and invites throughout the year, and (with a donation of at least $50) an Olmsted Parks Conservancy t-shirt.
