In 2021, thanks to a gift from the Noltemeyer family, Olmsted Parks Conservancy was able to purchase approximately 25 acres of land near Cherokee Park from the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. This acquisition presents a unique opportunity to add to Cherokee Park, one of Frederick Law Olmsted’s finest works of art. But this generous gift was only the first step. To realize the full potential of this land, work needs to be done.

With your support, Olmsted Parks Conservancy will demolish the outdated buildings on the site, collect public input, and create a master plan for how Beargrass Preserve at Cherokee Park can best serve our community. Your gift today supports a historic effort to build on Olmsted’s legacy and ensure this land will be enjoyed as public park space in perpetuity. To learn more, visit
