The Malaria War

A Documentary By Kathleen Quillian & Caz Tanner

Through intimate character-driven stories, this innovative documentary uncovers the struggle to eliminate one of mankind’s greatest adversaries when there is no vaccine, failing drugs, and a malaria parasite that is evolving faster than we can keep up. Over the past 50-years, we have made huge strides in controlling malaria, yet all of those gains could soon be lost. Malariologists estimate that we have 3-5 years before lethal strains of malaria spread across the planet, rendering us helpless against the disease. Scientists are now in a race against time to eliminate drug-resistant malaria before these deadly parasites once again sweep across the globe. While filming a documentary project in Kenya, filmmakers Kathleen Quillian and Caz Tanner became aware of malaria’s toll on the region and began to research the issue. Once uncovering the impending threat Southeast Asia poses to Africa, the two filmmakers decided to take action to help prevent this global disaster.
