Rod Bennett Memorial Scholarship Fund

In life, Rod Bennett was a much-loved teacher and mentor dedicated to guiding his young music and math students at Arroyo Seco Junior High School in Valencia, California, on their journey through learning. The new Rod Bennett Memorial Scholarship Fund provides a way for Rod to continue his mission, even after his tragic death on May 25, 2016. Rod was just 53, and as a teacher, musician, sportsman, traveler and all-around wonderful human being had so much life ahead to live, so much more to give. Established by Valerie Pryor as a tribute to her late husband, the fund provides financial aid to college-bound high school seniors in the Santa Clarita Valley’s Wm. S. Hart Union School District to help further their studies.

From the standpoint of daily life, however, there is one thing I do know: that we are here for the sake of each other, above all, for those upon whose smile
and well-being our own happiness depends, and also for the countless unknown souls with whose fate we are connected by a bond of sympathy.
Many times a day I realize how much my own outer and inner life is built upon the labors of others, both living and dead, and how earnestly I must
exert myself in order to give in return as much as I have received and am still receiving.”

-Albert Einstein
