Ethan J. Hatke Memorial Fund

The Ethan J. Hatke Memorial fund is in remembrance and honor of our son. Ethan led a rich and happy life until the age of 19, when he collapsed and died from the effects of Arythmogenic Right Ventricular Dysplasia (ARVD). This disease causes disruptions in the structure and conductive pathways of the heart leading to cardiac arrhythmias, which are often fatal upon initial onset. This disease is particularly aggravated by prolonged cardiovascular athletics and is very difficult to diagnose. Quite often the first symptom of the disease is sudden cardiac death. The purpose of this fund is to provide resources to the medical community for additional research into the cause and progression of the disease as well as the diagnosis and treatment of the disorder.

From the standpoint of daily life, however, there is one thing I do know: that we are here for the sake of each other, above all, for those upon whose smile
and well-being our own happiness depends, and also for the countless unknown souls with whose fate we are connected by a bond of sympathy.
Many times a day I realize how much my own outer and inner life is built upon the labors of others, both living and dead, and how earnestly I must
exert myself in order to give in return as much as I have received and am still receiving.”

-Albert Einstein
