At age 42, I am a Deputy Sheriff/ K9 Handler. I am married with a 22 year old and 17 year old daughter. I have a 1 year old granddaughter that was born two months early and tragically lost her Dad in an accident at 4 months of age. My father is recovering from Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia Lymphoma. After that devastating year, I became sick and was treated for Bronchitis, then a trip to the ER where I was told I had Pancreitis only to be transported to the hospital from work with stomach pain again. After five days in the hospital and multiple scans, MRI, bone marrow biopsy and bloodwork for cancer and infectious disease, I was discharged without a diagnosis but told to follow up with a Hemotologist/oncologist. A PET Scan was ordered showing 3 lymph nodes. I was then scheduled for a Lymph node biopsy. The Mayo Clinic came back with a diagnosis of Hyaline Vascular Multicentric Castleman's Disease of the idiopathic variant. This has unfortunately caused me to miss 2 months of work. My family is having to pick up on my chores and sadly I am going to miss out on some of my 17 year old daughters ASA Softball tournaments who I have coached for the last 6 years. I have ended up missing 2 months of training at work for my K9 who has been temporarily reassigned until my return to work hopefully within the next month. My daughter is holding a softball camp for young players as part of her senior project at the end of july and wants to donate her earnings to CDCN to assist with research.
